Big shout out to Jude Armishaw and Molly Galea who put on a very successful Music Soiree last Saturday. The Neons were bought at auction by these lovely ladies in support of the Stringmania camp scholarship fund, and we had a ball playing a house concert to a very packed lounge room. Jude and Molly turned the event into a whole afternoon of food, drink and great performances from the local folk community, it was ace!
The Neons are performing This Saturday 14th April, 7:30pm at the Abbotsford Convent, Bishop's Parlour, as guests of The Boîte World Music Cafe:
The Neons are tickled pink to be performing our very first gigs in Western Australia, at the Fairbridge Folk festival from the 20-22nd April. We'll be performing in 3 gigs as a band, plus offering an Aussie tunes workshop and taking part in a fiddle round-robin, can't wait! Meanwhile, in May we will be heading back to the Robert Burns Festival in Camperdown, Vic, for two gigs on Saturday 19th May, as well as joining the mighty Melbourne Scottish Fiddlers on stage on Sunday 20th (see footage below of our opening gig at Camperdown last year) Bring it!
We wrapped up a terrific weekend at the National Folk Festival - amidst rocking out at gigs with the Celtic-fun-machine Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club - with a packed and buzzing Neon Effect show at the Flute and Fiddle. The Neons kicked off the final Festival concert on Monday night with great vibes and an awesome audience, thanks heaps to Greg Hudson for having us aboard!
